Problems with Third party Apps Configuration in Yahoo Mail

Configuring email accounts with third-party apps allow users to access their inbox offline. The outlook is one such third-party email client that allows easy configuration of various email services such as Gmail, AOL, Outlook, Yahoo, etc. It works fine with all of these except with few issues with Yahoo! Mail as reported by users. So, let’s have a look at how the Yahoo Mail configuration issue can be resolved for Outlook third-party clients.

Changes in Yahoo! Mail

Yahoo blocks access on some non-Yahoo apps due to security concerns. This is the main reason why configuration issues occur with Outlook and Yahoo. Making these changes will resolve the issue.

  • Sign in to Yahoo mail account through your computer. All features are not available in the mobile version.
  • Move to your user name on the upper-right corner in the mailbox and click on ‘Account Info’ in the dropdown.
  • Select the ‘Account security’ option on the left side panel.
  • On the right-side panel, scroll down and look for the option ‘Allow apps that use less secure sign-in’ and move the slider to turn it ON.

  1. Hello,
My security system has been setup to send email and SMS messages through my yahoo account. It has been working for a couple years but has recently stopped. The issue appears to be related to the new Oath setup. Will the emails and SMS messages work with Oath? What do I need to setup to make it work?

Thank you in advance to your prompt attention to this matter.

    Jason
